Season 1, Episode 11: The Limo

“So, then I said, your motorcycle was like that when I got here.”

“You’re not Moby, are you?”

“Who?”

Ted rents a limo to try and give the gang the best New Year’s Eve ever.

3 Hours ‘Til Midnight

In an effort to make New Year’s not suck, Ted rents a limo and surprises the group.  The previous years they all split up , so this year they will got to 5 parties before midnight and then pick which party they’re going to ring in the new year at.  They re-into duce Ranjit, the limo driver, who drove the taxi the night of Ted and Robin’s first date.

Robin leaves to meet up with her boyfriend, Derek, and everyone else heads to party number 1.

2 Hours, 30 Minutes ‘Til Midnight

The group leaves the first party and is joined by Marybeth, a co-worker of Ted’s who he thinks likes him, and Natalya, a Russian chick Barney picked up at the party, so the group heads to party number 2.

1 Hour, 55 Minutes ‘Til Midnight

The group leaves party number 2 (not as good as number 1) and head to number 3, accidentally leaving Natalya behind.  Robin calls that Derek has stood her up and, regardless of the fact that he’s on a date with Marybeth, Ted heads back for her.

1 Hour, 38 Minutes ‘Til Midnight

Robin joins them and everybody does their best to cheer her up, and head for hot dogs.  Lily runs back to the apartment to change her shoes and will meet them at party number 3.

1 Hour, 18 Minutes ‘Til Midnight

They get back in the limo with their food and Marshall spots Moby out the window.  They offer to give him a ride to a party he’s going to, and he invites them.  Marshall leaves to go find Lily, and the group discovers Moby is not Moby.  Not Moby leaves and Lily calls Marshall’s phone, which he left in the limo.  They then discover Not Moby’s party is party number 4.  Lily joins them, mistakenly thinking party number 4 was party number 3, and they head off to the real party number 3. and the limo gets a flat tire.

18 Minutes ‘Til Midnight

The group’s trying to stay psyched while Ranjit changes the tire.  And Marybeth leaves (because Ted’s in love with Robin).

19 Minutes ‘Til Midnight

While still waiting, Lily goes out the sunroof to call Marshall's name, while Robin gets a call from Derek.  Ted is still determined to have a perfect New Year’s, while Barney tells him the perfect New Year’s doesn’t exist.  And then Marshall yell’s Lily's name in response.  Marshall tells them he went to party number 3 and then party numbers 4 and 5 looking for them, and party number 5 is awesome.  Just then, the flat is fixed so they head out, after finding Natalya asleep in the front seat.

3 Minutes ‘Til Midnight

Ranjit tells them he can’t get them to the party by midnight and Ted pops the champagne so they can celebrate there in the limo.  Derek shows up and Ted finds himself dateless, outside the limo.  He starts to leave and Robin follows to kiss him at midnight.

The Mother- I love that this episode only takes place on the street and in the limo.  It makes it more interesting because you never notice that they never go anywhere else!  As for the storyline, I hate that they’re still beating the dead horse/Robin arc.

(Note: Sorry about the late posting!  I totally meant to get this up last night and didn’t realize I hadn’t until about 6:30 this morning.)
